Reflecting on Eight Years of Sobriety
Beyond her vacation highlights, Simpson recently marked a significant personal milestone. In November 2025, she utilized Instagram to acknowledge her eighth year of sobriety.
She articulated her journey, stating that when she decided to cease drinking, it was a conscious "choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing." Simpson further explained that this pivotal decision enabled her "to fully live in the pursuit of Gods [sic] purpose for my life." She described how "Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency."
After eight years of this commitment, she now asserts, "today I am clear" and "driven by faith." She elaborated on the nature of these guiding forces, noting that "both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see."
Simpson emphasized her contentment with her path, declaring, "I’m so happy I chose faith over fear." She concluded her reflection on strength, saying, "It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender."
The Path to Clarity and Self-Acceptance
In a previous Instagram post from November 2023, Simpson disclosed that her decision to stop consuming alcohol was made on the day following Halloween in 2017. This revelation was accompanied by a photo captured on that very day.
Reflecting on the image, Simpson described the individual depicted as "an unrecognizable version of myself," a person who "had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore."
She detailed her resolve at that moment: "I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity." Simpson explained her personal necessity for sobriety, stating, "Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted."
Simpson expressed a desire to confront her difficulties head-on, saying, "I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor." She aspired to "live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward – never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world."
She also addressed the societal "stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic." Simpson emphasized the importance of accepting her "failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage," ultimately realizing, "the drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do."
