Mahopac Man, 73, Missing After RV Discovered Empty in Adirondack Wilderness

A 73-year-old man from Mahopac, New York, has been missing for over three weeks after his recreational vehicle was discovered abandoned at a secluded campsite within the Adirondack Mountains. Authorities identified the individual as Craig K. Streeter.

New York State Police (NYSP) reported that Streeter was last observed on August 2 at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake.

While it is not uncommon for Streeter to venture into remote areas for brief periods without contact, his current absence has extended for several weeks, raising concern among officials.

Search Initiated After RV Discovery

The search operation commenced after New York State Forest Rangers found Streeter's RV at campsite 36, situated on Moose River Road in the town of Inlet. The vehicle showed no evidence of recent activity, prompting an alert. When initial efforts to locate the experienced outdoorsman proved unsuccessful, additional law enforcement entities were called in to assist. The ongoing search now involves several agencies, according to the NYSP.

Investigators have stated that, at this time, there are no indicators suggesting foul play in Streeter's disappearance. At his last sighting, he was wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and jeans before departing the store in his RV.

Authorities are actively seeking information from anyone who may have encountered Streeter while he was camping or traveling along Moose River Road or in other remote camping locations nearby. Individuals with relevant details are urged to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000.
