Loved Ones Reflect on Army 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan's Enthusiasm Before Tragic Middle East Deployment

The family of Army 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan, who tragically lost his life while serving abroad, has shared heartfelt memories of his bravery and enthusiasm for life. The 25-year-old soldier from Georgia was among three U.S. service members killed in a drone attack attributed to Iranian-backed forces at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 18.

His mother, Shari Feehan, expressed profound pride in her son's service, stating, "We are so proud of him, and it's just so touching that the country is also sharing in that pride with us."

In a moving tribute, Feehan’s mother and his fiancée, identified as Fletcher, recounted details of his final resting place in Georgia and his eagerness regarding his deployment to the Middle East.

A Dedicated Soldier's Enthusiasm for Service

While acknowledging her sadness about her fiancé's departure for deployment, Fletcher also conveyed her excitement for him to engage in the work he loved and ultimately return home.

“I was obviously very sad when I got the news that he was going to go, but I was very proud of him. I was like, ‘You know what, I just — I just want you to go out there. I want you to get the experience that you are wanting to get out of this, and to come home,’” Fletcher recalled.

She added, “He was positive the entire time, and he was always like, ‘Oh yeah, I did so great today. We shot down 10 missiles.’"

Lt. Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, which falls under the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Shari Feehan emphasized the deep roots of military service in their family. "He [Tyler] loved serving his country. His father did 26 years in the Army, and so the military and the country have always been very important to our family, and he carried that legacy on," she stated.

A Shared Resting Place

The 25-year-old soldier was interred in Georgia on Friday, placed directly beside his grandfather, a Vietnam War veteran. Poignantly, his grandfather passed away just days after Lt. Feehan's tragic death in Jordan.

“They were together and very close in life, and now they can rest next to each other,” Shari Feehan remarked.

Presidential Recognition and Lasting Honors

Lt. Feehan’s mother also spoke about the family’s journey home to Georgia aboard Air Force One, an invitation extended by President Donald Trump.

"It was such a nice experience to be able to meet and talk with the president," she said. "I feel like he was very genuine in speaking with us, and we got to let him know a little more about Tyler and the wonderful young man that he was."

In recognition of his service and sacrifice, Tyler Feehan will be posthumously awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Action Badge.
